Art on the land needs time, not hours. A residency is a few weeks: the artist walks the land, finds the spot, gathers the material, and makes something slowly, with local hands helping. In exchange for a place to sleep, food from the kitchen, and people to carry things, the artist leaves a piece on the land. That is the whole deal. No fee either way.
Residencies are open to sculptors, builders, weavers, sound artists, light artists, muralists, and people who do not have a word for what they do. They run through the quieter seasons as well as during gatherings, because some of the best work happens when there is nobody around.
