Some moments need a frame. A birth, a death, a decision, a season turning, a night when a whole field goes quiet together. Ceremony is how a group of people says: this matters, we are here for it, and we will hold each other while it happens.
A ceremony has a clear beginning, a clear end, and someone holding the space in between. Cacao at dawn. A fire ceremony at the turn of a season. A sweat lodge, a sound ceremony, a sunrise sit. Some are large, most are small. All of them are safe, sober in their facilitation, and optional.
Ceremony is only as good as the person holding it. On the land, ceremonies are led by people who have earned that trust: through training, through years of practice, and through being known by the community. Nobody arrives and leads a ceremony the same week.
Where it is legal and can be held safely, the land may host plant ceremonies led by experienced facilitators, with proper screening, preparation and integration. Where it is not legal, it does not happen. This is a place that protects people, and that includes protecting them from us being careless.
What happens in a ceremony is only half of it. The other half is the next morning: the circle where it is spoken, the walk where it settles, the meal where you are just a person again. Every ceremony on the land is followed by time and people to land it.
