Grounding
Coming back into the body and onto the ground, through feet, water, work, food, or simply standing still outside.
Belongs to pillar 03: Spirituality
The spiritual world floats when it is allowed to. Grounding is the counterweight, and the land has it built in. Bare feet on soil. A river to swim in that is genuinely cold. A wheelbarrow that needs pushing. A meal cooked from things that grew twenty metres away. None of that is a practice you sign up for. It is what the land is.
That is why the spirituality pillar insists on dirt under its nails: you meditate, then you dig. It keeps the inner life honest. A person who has just planted forty trees is much less likely to say something vague about energy. A person who has washed the ceremony cups is much less likely to think they are enlightened.
Grounding is also the first thing offered to anyone who is overwhelmed, in a ceremony or out of one: feet on the earth, a hand on a tree, water, something to eat. It works on nearly everything.
